Over the past ten years, (two years as a Trainee Solicitor and more than eight years as a qualified Solicitor from 2018), Ash has acquired valuable experience in managing a wide spectrum of family law case types; from start of the case life cycle to the end. These have been cases which family law practitioners typically come across on the high street legal market on a day-to-day basis.

Post-qualification, Ash has undertaken the day-to-day running of Family Law departments at two different firms, where he has not only been responsible for advising clients on the law and procedure and conducting litigation but have also carried out a considerable amount of courtroom advocacy.

FAQs

Will I need an Order to see my children?

If the other parent does not allow you to see your children, you can apply to the Court for a Child Arrangements Order to spend time with the children legally.

Can the other parent take my child?

If the other parent has Parental Responsibility or is on the birth certificate, then they have the right to take the child, if you do not secure a Prohibited Steps Order or a Children Live With Order.

What are my rights in relation to my children?

If you are on the birth certificate or have Parental Responsibility, then you have a right to see your children, spend time with them and the right to live with them.

Can I prevent my ex-partner taking my children from my care or abroad?

Yes, you can prevent your ex-partner taking your children by a Prohibited Steps Order which you can apply to Court

Do I have to attend Court?

You can ask permission to the Court to allow you to attend Court remotely if there are health or personal reasons. If there is no specific issue, then usually you will have to attend Court.

Can I get legal aid?

You can apply to Court for legal aid, which they do a merits and means test, and if you pass that then clients can get legal aid and be funded for legal advice and representation.

How long does it take to get a divorce?

Divorce can take up to 1 year depending on the complications and circumstances of the case.

How do I apply for divorce?

You have to make an application for a divorce and will need your and your partners information and original marriage certificate.

How is property divided if I am separating from my partner?

The Court decides how property is divided depending on the circumstances of the husband and wife and if there are children involved.
